So, I've just seen on twitter that Tensnake's Coma Cat is Mixmag's no.1 top tune of 2010. I've yet to see the article but congratulations to Tensnake, it's definitely one of the better tracks of this past year. He should in fact be thanking Anthony And The Camp for inspiration since he sampled the riff from their track What I Like.
If you're a regular to this blog you've probably heard me mention Jim Sharp. Not only is he an amazing turntablist and DJ, he's also a brilliant producer. In his latest exploration of turning a classic track into a fresh original rework, he's taken on Scott Walker and his best of release Boy Child: 67-70.
Featuring elegant sample looping matched with beefed up percussion and the odd scratched vocal sample, Jim has taken these select tracks and made them his own. Check them out in the player and have a listen to the original tracks via the Youtube links below. Jim Sharp & Scott Walker - Boy Child: Revisited EP is out now on Championship Vinyl records and you can download it from the Soundcloud player below.
Oh-Death is the umbrella name I use for my creative projects outside of the 9-5 working week. On the blog I write about Music, Graphics and the occasional spill of randomness.
Aside from the blog, I also design T-shirts, mix records and draw stuff for business and pleasure. Check out Oh-Death on Flickr or Oh-Death.com for more.
